Tanpa tes Ultra Sono Grafi (USG), jenis kelamin bayi sebenarnya bisa diprediksi. Menggunakan tabel dari China, seseorang bisa dengan mudah menebak apakah bayi tersebut laki-laki atau perempuan. Tabel ini bukan produk orang modern. Benda ini terkubur selama 700 tahun yang lalu kemudian ditemukan oleh Institute of Science Beijing.

Selain itu, cara memprediksi jenis kelamin juga sangat mudah menggunakan tabel ini. Tinggal mencocokkan antara umur ibu pada saat hamil (bagian horisontal) dan bulan dimana janin terbentuk (bagian vertikal). Kemudian akan ketemu jenis kelamin bayinya. Lebih jelasnya lihatlah tabel dibawah ini. B untuk jenis kelamin laki-laki, sedangkan G adalah perempuan.

Tabel prediksi ini sering digunakan di China. Penyebabnya adalah pemerintah Beijing melarang warganya untuk mengetahui jenis kelamin bayi kecuali alasan medis. Tindakan semacam ini bisa dinilai melanggar hukum. Bahkan uji urine untuk menentukan bayi saja juga dilarang di negara ini. Sebagai solusinya, mereka menggunakan tabel tersebut.

Sayangnya, tingkat akurasi dari metode ini hanya 50%. Tiga ilmuwan dari Swedia, Michigan, dan Boston telah melakukan investigasi kelahiran bayi berjumlah 3 juta yang menggunakan tabel tersebut. Hasil penelitian tersebut juga diterbitkan dalam Paediatric and Perinatal Pedemeiology Journal. Riset tersebut menungkapkan tingkat ketepatan dengan metode ini seperi sebuah koin, 50:50.
